Planetary Lordship (Ownership)
In the Parashari system, each zodiacal sign has a lord—a planet that owns and rules it. This is foundational: if you do not know the lords, you cannot calculate lordship strength or read yoga rules.

The Pattern
The sequence is not random. It follows a classical order: Mars (speed 3), Venus (slow), Mercury (variable), Moon (fast), Sun (slow), Mars again, Jupiter (slow), Saturn (slowest)—with Jupiter and Saturn each ruling two signs (opposite elements).
Why lordship matters: When a planet sits in its own sign (e.g., Mars in Aries), it gains strength. When it sits opposite (Mars in Libra), it loses strength. The lord of a house directly affects that house's outcomes.
Planets Without Signs
Rahu and Ketu do not own any sign in the classical Parashari system. They are malefic shadow planets (nodes of the Moon) and are treated separately. Some modern systems assign them rulership, but this text follows the classical rule: Rahu and Ketu have no natural sign ownership.
Application: Lordship in Your Chart
Example: If your Lagna (1st house) is Gemini (Mercury-ruled), then Mercury is your Lagna lord. Mercury's placement, strength, and condition determine your life direction, health, and personality. If Mercury is weak, your Gemini Lagna lacks support.
Remember: Every house has a lord. The 10th house lord is the karaka for career, the 7th house lord for relationships, etc. This is why lordship is the most important rule in Parashari astrology.
