If Jupiter is the benefic clock, Saturn is the malefic clock—slower, more restrictive, but equally important for event timing.
Saturn's progression:
Saturn takes ~30 years to complete the zodiac (~2.5 years per sign). If Saturn at birth is at 5° Capricorn, then:
• Age 0-2.5: Saturn progresses 5-8° Capricorn
• Age 2.5-5: Saturn progresses 8°-11° Capricorn
• Age 30: Saturn returns to 5° Capricorn (Saturn Return)
Saturn's touch on a natal planet is interpreted as delay, restriction, loss, or harsh lesson.
Event types by planet touched:
• Saturn touches Sun → Career setback, authority loss, humbling, but eventual re-establishment
• Saturn touches Moon → Emotional hardship, loss of a loved one, relocation, or dark period
• Saturn touches Mars → Injury, illness, delay in projects, but eventual victory
• Saturn touches Venus → Marital strain, separation, loss, but eventual recovery
• Saturn touches Rahu → Sudden loss, accident, but forced spiritual growth
Use Saturn as a modifier: If Jupiter touches Venus (marriage predicted), but Saturn also aspects Venus at the same time, marriage is delayed or complicated. If Jupiter touches Venus 6 months before Saturn does, marriage is predicted; if Saturn comes first, marriage is blocked or delayed until Jupiter arrives.
Saturn Return (age ~30): Often accompanied by major life restructuring (marriage, divorce, career change, health crisis). Saturn return at the native's degree is a watershed.

The confirming role. Saturn is not used to generate predictions independently. Its function is to corroborate what Jupiter indicates and to describe the conditions under which an event arrives. Jupiter says when; Saturn says how hard.
Reading the two together. Jupiter contacting a natal planet while Saturn contacts the same area suggests an event that arrives but arrives with difficulty, delay or cost. Jupiter alone suggests a smoother passage. Saturn alone, without Jupiter, more often describes pressure that does not resolve into an event.
Saturn's rate. Saturn takes about twenty-nine and a half years for a full circuit, so it moves roughly a degree in a year at its slowest and considerably faster near its direct stations. Using a single fixed rate for Saturn is a cruder approximation than it is for Jupiter.
Against fatalism. Saturn contacts are frequently presented in dramatic terms. In this method they indicate friction, delay and the need for endurance. Describing them as periods of doom is neither what the technique says nor a responsible thing to tell a client.
