Anecdote vs. Evidence: Nadi astrologers often boast of high accuracy ("90% correct"), but these claims rest on anecdotes and selective reporting. When Nadi predictions are tested rigorously (blind prediction of future events, then checking outcomes months/years later), accuracy is much lower.
Testing studies (informal, by various astrologers):
• Event timing: When Nadi predicts "Jupiter will touch Mars at age 35; expect action event," actual event occurs ±3-5 years, not exactly on schedule. This is a large margin for error.
• Event type: Nadi predicts "action event" (could be marriage, business, accident, travel). When Jupiter touches Mars at age 35 and the native travels, Nadi is deemed "correct" retrospectively. But the prediction was not specific; any action-related event "confirms" it.
• Marriage prediction: Nadi often predicts a marriage partner type (age, background), but post-marriage, the prediction is rationalized to fit reality, however loosely.
Common failure modes:
1. Over-specification (prediction is vague) + Retrofitting (any event deemed "correct"). Example: Nadi predicts "marriage or partnership in early 30s." Native starts a business partnership at 32, not a romantic marriage. Nadi is deemed "correct" despite missing the specific prediction.
2. Degree-zone arbitrariness. Different nadi texts assign different meanings to the same degrees. A Venus at 15° Libra might mean "early marriage" in one text and "late marriage" in another. The contradiction is not resolved; practitioners pick the text that fits their hypothesis.
3. Progression errors. Jupiter's progression at ~1°/year is an approximation. Actual Jupiter positions vary (retrograde, varying orbital speed). Using the approximation introduces errors that compound over decades.
Honest assessment: Nadi works best as a psychological/narrative tool (the story it tells about your life is often resonant and comforting), not as a timing or prediction tool. When used for specific event prediction, its accuracy is no better than classical Parashara dasha analysis and worse than KP's significator system.
This does not mean Nadi is worthless. It means: Use Nadi for psychological insight and hypothesis generation, not for guaranteed event timing. Test Nadi predictions on your own charts and track accuracy honestly. Do not retrofit predictions to fit reality.
