Jupiter is the "benefic" in astrology, associated with expansion, growth, and good fortune. In Nadi timing, Jupiter is also the metronome of life.

Jupiter's progression:

Jupiter is ~12 years to complete a zodiacal circle (one sign per year approximately). If Jupiter at birth is at 10° Aries, then:

• Age 0-1: Jupiter progresses 10-11° Aries

• Age 1-2: Jupiter progresses 11°-12° Aries (or into Taurus)

• Age 12-13: Jupiter returns to 10° Aries (Jupiter return)

The rate and why it is convenient. Jupiter completes the zodiac in about twelve years, covering thirty degrees of a sign in roughly two and a half years. Reading a contact. Progress Jupiter forward from its natal degree and note when it reaches the degree of each other natal planet. Each contact marks a period when that planet's matters come forward. Jupiter's own nature colours the contact toward growth, expansion and opportunity.

Retrogression complicates it. Jupiter turns retrograde for about four months each year, so a contact may occur three times: direct, retrograde and direct again. What to promise a client. A Jupiter contact indicates a period of activity in the relevant area, spanning months rather than a day. Presenting it as a precise date exceeds what the technique supports, and will fail often enough to damage your credibility.

In Bhrigu Nadi astrology, Jupiter (Guru) is considered the primary "life clock" or Jeeva Karaka (soul significator), whose transit through the zodiac triggers significant life events. Unlike traditional house-based analysis, Nadi focuses on Jupiter's natal position and its subsequent movement, with events manifesting when transiting Jupiter interacts with natal planets or specific houses relative to them.

Parashara Jyotisha: This system primarily uses the Vimshottari Dasha system for timing events, where planetary periods (Mahadashas and Antardashas) are based on the Moon's nakshatra at birth. Jupiter's role is significant as a natural benefic and Dasha lord, influencing the nature of gains (lawful/honest) during its period, but it is not described as a "primary life clock" through its annual progression.
Jaimini Astrology: utilize Chara Dasha for timing and focus on Karakas (significators) like Atmakaraka. While Jupiter's influence is noted in contexts such as nullifying evil results when near malefic planets or its placement in Karakamsa, it does not describe Jupiter's transit as the main life clock for event timing.
Krishnamurti Paddhati (KP): KP system uses Dasha lords, sub-lords, and ruling planets for precise event timing. Jupiter as a Dasha lord indicates lawful and honest gains, but KP does not employ Jupiter's annual progression as a primary life clock in the manner of Bhrigu Nadi.
