Evaluating Matrimonial Destiny
Marriage is cross-verified across all four frameworks:
- Parashara: 7th house lord in D-1/D-9, Venus (Kalatrakaraka), and Vimshottari Mahadasha/Antardasha.
- Jaimini: Darakaraka (DK) and Upapada Lagna (UL). If DK is in good dignity and UL is unblemished, marital harmony endures.
- KP: 7th Cuspal Sub-Lord must signify houses 2 (family additions), 7 (partnership), and 11 (union). If connected to 1, 6, 10, separation is promised.
- Bhrigu Nadi: Progressed Jupiter touching natal Venus or Mars indicates the exact 1-year window of matrimonial manifestation.
Marriage and Partnership: A Four-System Audit
Marriage questions carry more emotional weight than any other, which is exactly why the method must be strict. Work the four systems in order and separate three distinct questions that clients tend to merge: is marriage promised, what is the partner like, and when is it likely.
- Parashara: the 7th house and its lord, Venus as natural karaka, and the D9 navamsha.
- Jaimini: Darakaraka for the spouse, and Upapada Lagna for the marriage and the spouse family line.
- KP: the 7th cuspal sub-lord, which settles whether marriage is promised.
- BNN: Venus and Moon degrees, progressed for timing.
Promise before timing
This is the discipline the KP framework enforces and the other systems benefit from. Establish first whether the chart promises marriage at all. Only when the promise stands do you ask when. An astrologer who begins with timing will always find a plausible window, because there is always some dasha that can be made to fit.
Describing the partner
Parashara reads the 7th lord and Venus; Jaimini reads the Darakaraka and its placement. These often describe the same person from different angles, one through house significations and the other through the karaka's own nature. Where they agree, describe the partner with reasonable confidence. Where they diverge sharply, say less rather than inventing a synthesis.
Timing as a window
Parashara gives dasha periods; KP narrows with significators and transit; BNN offers progressed contacts. None of these resolves to a date, and presenting one as a date is a false precision that clients remember and hold you to. Give a window of months or a year, state your confidence, and explain what would move it.
A note on responsibility.
Marriage readings can affect real decisions about real people. Never present a dosha as a reason to cancel an engagement, and never describe an unnamed third party in terms that would harm them. State what the chart indicates, state your uncertainty, and leave the decision with the person whose life it is.
