This lesson takes a real chart and applies both systems to a single question (e.g., career success, marriage timing, health prognosis).
Parashara approach: Track the 10th lord (career), Atmakaraka (natural soul purpose), Navamsha 10th house (career details), Dasha timing via Vimshottari, and Saturn/Jupiter transits.
Jaimini approach: Track AmK (career karaka), Arudha Lagna (public image), Rajya Pada (career arudha), Chara Dasha timing, and relevant rashi drishti.
The chart often yields convergent answers from both systems: Parashara says "career peak in Virgo Mahadasha" and Jaimini says "Virgo Chara Dasha." When they converge, confidence is high.
But they diverge on details: Parashara emphasizes planetary strength and Shadbala; Jaimini emphasizes karakamsha and arudha placement. A client may have a weak 10th lord in Parashara (suggesting career difficulty) but strong AmK + AL in Jaimini (suggesting public success).
The lesson teaches synthesis: Use Parashara for foundational chart health and strength analysis. Use Jaimini for karmic intent and psychological insight. Use both dasha systems to triangulate timing.
You will receive a chart, predict using both systems, and write a synthesis reading that incorporates both viewpoints.
Three structural differences. Karakas are assigned by degree rather than by nature; aspects run between signs rather than between planets; and timing uses sign dashas rather than the planetary Vimshottari. Everything else the two systems largely share.
Running the comparison properly. Read the chart fully in one system and write the conclusion down before opening the other. Reading them together invites unconscious harmonisation, where the second system is interpreted to agree with the first and the comparison proves nothing.
Typical divergences. Marriage readings often diverge, because Parashara reads the 7th and Venus while Jaimini reads Darakaraka and Upapada. Career readings diverge less often, since the 10th house and the Amatyakaraka frequently point the same way. Noting which domains diverge in a given chart is itself informative.
Choosing for the question. Jaimini is strong on life purpose, karmic direction and the soul's agenda. Parashara has greater range for events, health, and the general texture of a life. Neither displaces the other, and most experienced practitioners move between them according to what is being asked.
