This lesson takes a real chart and applies both systems to predict a specific outcome (e.g., "Will I remarry?" or "Career peak timing?").
Parashara approach: Examine 7th house lord (marriage), Navamsha 7th house, Vimshottari dasha of planets relevant to 7th, transits of Jupiter and Venus (benefics), and Saturn (malefic delays).
KP approach: Identify 7th cuspal sub-lord (primary significator), check if untenanted planets block the promise, examine 7th lord placement via 4-step hierarchy, resolve 7th house tenants to their sub-lords, check ruling planets if horary, and apply timing funnel (dasha + transit + Moon).
Typical convergence: Both systems may identify Venus Dasha as the marriage period, confirming high confidence in the answer.
Typical divergence: Parashara, seeing a weak 7th house lord, may suggest "marriage is unlikely"; KP, seeing a benefic 7th cuspal sub-lord, may say "marriage is certain but delayed." The divergence points to a question worth investigating (Is the sub-lord truly benefic? Is the cusp calculation accurate?).
Synthesis: Use both systems as checks on each other. Convergence = high confidence. Divergence = dig deeper, check calculations, re-examine house lords and sub-lords, and apply additional tools (vargas, Vimshopaka bala, horary if applicable).
You will receive a chart, predict using both systems separately, and write a synthesis reading that incorporates both viewpoints and acknowledges where they agree and conflict.
What the two systems share. Both are sidereal, both use the same nine grahas, both use nakshatras, and both use Vimshottari dasha. The shared ground is much larger than the disagreement, which is why a practitioner can hold both without contradiction.
Where they genuinely differ. House division is the first difference: Placidus cusps against whole-sign houses, which alone can move a planet between houses. The second is the locus of authority: Parashara weighs many factors to reach a judgment, while KP subordinates all of them to the sub-lord. The third is the treatment of aspects, which KP largely sets aside in favour of significator links.
Reading one chart both ways. The instructive exercise is to read a chart fully in Parashara, write the conclusion down, then read it in KP and write that conclusion down before comparing. Doing the two independently is the only way to see where they really diverge rather than unconsciously harmonising them.
Choosing between them. For the shape of a life, its character and its broad arc, Parashara has the greater range. For a narrow question with a reliable birth time, KP gives a cleaner answer. Neither observation makes the other system wrong; they are built for different tasks.
