What Jeeva Nadi is
Jeeva Nadi reads a life from the Jeeva karaka — the planet that signifies the living matter under discussion — rather than from the ascendant. The shift is the whole method. Instead of asking "what does the first house say about this person", Jeeva Nadi asks "which planet owns this subject, and what does the chart look like with that planet at the centre".
The Nadi tradition states the anchoring plainly: Jupiter is the Jeeva karaka, the significator of life force, and Saturn is the Karma karaka, the significator of livelihood and duty. Commentaries in the Bhrigu Nandi Nadi line extend this — Jupiter governs what the soul enjoys, Saturn governs what it must work at, Venus governs marriage. Jeeva Nadi turns that into a reading procedure.
How the anchor is chosen
The default anchor is the Jeeva karaka for the native: Jupiter for a male native and Venus for a female native. When you name a subject, the anchor moves to the karaka of that subject:

What the engine reads once anchored
- Directional clusters. Planets sharing a cardinal direction are read as one unit acting together, as in Bhrigu Nandi Nadi, irrespective of house. A large northern cluster behaves differently from four planets scattered one per direction.
- Degree sequence. Planets are ordered by degree and progressed, which is what converts a static chart into an arc with a before and an after.
- Anchor contacts. Each planet in contact with the anchor contributes a pairing — Jupiter with Saturn, Jupiter with Rahu — and each pairing carries a life theme.
- Bhava weighting. The anchor's own house, and the houses it owns, take the heavier weight, so the reading stays about the subject you asked for.

Switching subject re-anchors the whole workspace without losing the screen you are on: read Career from Saturn, then switch to Marriage and the same six screens recompute from Venus.
How to use it well
- Name the subject before you read. An unanchored reading defaults to the native's Jeeva karaka, which answers "who am I", not "what about my work".
- Read Directions early. Cluster structure explains why two charts with similar house placements behave differently.
- Use the Timeline for sequence, not for dates. Progression gives order and phase; exact dating belongs to the dasha engines.
- Compare with the lagna reading. Where the anchored reading and the ordinary Parashari reading disagree, that disagreement is information: it usually marks a life area running on a different clock from the personality.
Jeeva Nadi and the BNN Hub
