When you open any birth chart on Rajvidya, the first page you land on is the Quick Chart Summary — a single, fully interactive dashboard that condenses thousands of Vedic calculations into one organised screen. This guide walks you through every section, shows you what to look at first, and explains how each panel connects to deeper analysis.
Whether you are opening a chart for the first time or conducting a professional consultation, this page is your starting point.
Step 1 — Opening the Quick Chart Summary
After logging in, click My Charts from the navigation bar and
select the chart you want to open. You will land on the URL pattern
/kundli/<chart-id>/ — this is the Quick Chart Summary page.
You can also click Open Chart from any article in this library and the system will automatically attach the page to your most recently updated birth chart.
The page loads instantly — no waiting for a PDF to generate. All calculations run on the Swiss Ephemeris engine in real time.
Step 2 — The Identity Bar
At the very top of the page is a sticky identity bar that stays visible as you scroll. It shows:
- Name, gender, date and time of birth, and place — confirms you are looking at the right chart
- Latitude and longitude — the exact coordinates used for calculation
- Edit and print buttons
Immediately below is a 5-badge strip:
| Badge | What it shows | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 🌄 Lagna | Ascendant sign + exact degree | The "physical body" of the chart — the first house and the filter through which all other planets express |
| ☪️ Moon | Moon sign + Nakshatra + Pada | The emotional mind and instinctive patterns; the Nakshatra determines Vimshottari Dasha sequence |
| ☀️ Sun | Sun sign | The soul's creative dharma; also determines the annual Varshaphal (solar return) |
| ⏱️ Dasha | Current Maha / Antar / Pratyantar lords + end dates | The "cosmic chapter" running right now — the most important timing indicator |
| 🎯 BTR Grade | Birth Time Rectification grade | How reliable is the recorded birth time? Verified / Needs Correction / Pending |
Step 3 — The Dual Chart Panel
The most visually prominent section of the page is the dual chart panel: a large interactive Rasi chart on the left, and a 5-tab panel on the right.
The Left Panel — D1 Rasi Chart
This is your main birth chart (D-1). It is fully interactive — not a static image. By default it shows the North Indian diamond format, with all 9 planets placed in their houses at their exact degrees.
You can switch between North Indian and South Indian chart styles using the toggle button in the panel header. Your preference is saved to your account profile.
The Right Panel — 5 Tabs
Click any tab to instantly switch what appears on the right side:
| Tab | What it shows | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| D-9 Navamsha | The 9th divisional chart — the Navamsha ascendant and all planets in D9 positions | Marriage, spiritual life, and confirming if D1 promises fully materialise |
| D-10 Dasamsha | The 10th divisional chart — career and profession chart | Career direction, professional rank, and work environment |
| Bhava Chalit | The cusp-based chart — planets placed by house cusp, not rasi boundary | When a planet is near a house boundary (Sandhi), check if it belongs to the previous or next house |
| KP Cuspal | 12-cusp table showing Sign, Degree, Star Lord, and Sub-Lord for every house cusp | KP practitioners: instantly check event promise via cuspal sub-lords without leaving the main chart page |
| BNN | Bhrigu Nandi Nadi — 4 directional planet clusters (East/South/West/North) with degrees + Winning Planets panel | Quick Nadi progression check and dominant planetary strings |
Step 4 — Switching Between 16 Divisional Charts
Look at the top-left corner of the left panel. You will see a Varga Switcher dropdown that currently shows "D-1 Rasi". Click it to reveal all 16 divisional charts available.
| Chart | Name | Domain |
|---|---|---|
| D-1 | Rasi | Overall life — the primary chart |
| D-2 | Hora | Wealth accumulation and finance |
| D-3 | Drekkana | Siblings, co-workers, courage |
| D-4 | Chaturthamsha | Home, land, property, fixed assets |
| D-6 | Shasthamsha | Health, disease tendencies, enemies |
| D-7 | Saptamsha | Children, procreative ability |
| D-9 | Navamsha | Marriage, dharma, fulfillment of D1 promises |
| D-10 | Dasamsha | Career, profession, authority |
| D-12 | Dwadashamsha | Parents, ancestral karma |
| D-16 | Shodashamsha | Vehicles, happiness, comforts |
| D-20 | Vimshamsha | Spiritual practice, upasana, deity |
| D-24 | Siddhamsha | Education, learning, knowledge |
| D-27 | Bhamsa | Strength, courage, physical vitality |
| D-30 | Trimsamsha | Misfortune, accidents, chronic disease |
| D-40 | Khavedamsha | Maternal lineage karma |
| D-45 | Akshavedamsha | Paternal lineage karma |
| D-60 | Shashtyamsha | Past-life karma, deepest karmic imprint |
When you select a divisional chart from the dropdown, the left panel redraws instantly — no page reload. The right panel continues to show whichever tab you had open, giving you a natural two-chart comparison.
Step 5 — Interactive Chart Features
The Rasi chart on the left is not static — it responds to your mouse. Here are all the interactive features and how to use them:
🔍 Hover Over Any Planet
Move your mouse over any planet abbreviation on the chart. A tooltip appears showing:
- Planet name, sign, and exact degree
- House number
- Nakshatra, Nakshatra lord, and Pada
- KP Sub-Lord
- Special status badges: Exalted Debilitated Retrograde Combust Gandanta
- Dashed lines drawn from the planet to every house it aspects
🌈 AV Heatmap — Ashtakavarga on the Chart
Click the AV toggle button above the chart. Each house fills with a colour based on its Sarvashtakavarga (SAV) score out of 56:
- Green (30–56 points) — strong house; transits here bring opportunities
- Yellow (25–29 points) — average house; mixed results
- Red (0–24 points) — weak house; transits here bring obstacles
This overlay answers the question: "Which areas of my life are structurally supported and which are challenged?" — in under 5 seconds.
🎭 Arudha Padas Overlay
Click the AL toggle to show Arudha Padas on the chart. You will see labels like AL (Arudha Lagna), A2 through A12, and UL (Upapada Lagna) overlaid in their respective houses.
What is an Arudha Pada? It is the mirror image of how the world perceives you in that house's domain. For example:
- AL (A1) — how the world perceives your overall personality and social status
- A2 — your perceived wealth and speech
- A7 — how your spouse or business partner appears to the world (their social image)
- UL — your Upapada Lagna; the most important indicator for the quality of marriage partnership
👻 Upagrahas Toggle
Click Upa to add Gulika and Mandi to the chart. Click +All to show all 11 sub-planets simultaneously:
- Yamardha group: Gulika, Mandi, Kaala, Mrityu, Yamaghantaka, Artha Prahara
- Sun-chain group: Dhooma, Vyatipata, Parivesha, Indrachapa, Upaketu
Gulika and Mandi in particular are checked for negative significations — a house containing Gulika tends to show obstacles and chronic difficulties in that area of life.
🔄 Bhavat Bhavam — Rotate the Chart
Right-click any house on the chart to rotate the entire chart relative to that house. This is the Bhavat Bhavam technique — "the house from the house".
For example:
- Right-click House 7 → the chart redraws with House 7 as the new Lagna, showing the spouse's perspective
- Right-click House 5 → shows the child's chart perspective (5th from 5th = 9th becomes child's 5th)
- Right-click House 10 → shows the career/authority field's perspective
🎬 Theater Mode — Full Screen
Click the Theater Mode button (⛶ icon) to expand the chart to full screen. The chart remains fully interactive in theater mode. Press Escape to return to the normal view. This is ideal for detailed house-by-house analysis or when consulting with a client on a projector or large monitor.
⚔️ Graha Yuddha — Planetary War Indicator
If any two planets are within 1° of each other in the same sign, a red arc is automatically drawn between them on the chart with a GY badge.
In a Graha Yuddha (planetary war), the planet with the higher longitude typically "wins" (or the brighter planet by magnitude). The winner's significations strengthen; the loser's weaken for the duration of their conjunction. This matters most when the losing planet is a benefic ruling an important house.
Step 6 — The 13-Column Planetary Matrix
Below the dual chart panel is the Unified Planetary Matrix — a single table with one row per planet (Lagna + 9 planets + Rahu + Ketu), providing all critical data in one scrollable view.
| Column | What it shows | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Planet | Planet name + Vargottama badge if applicable | A planet labelled VO (Vargottama) occupies the same sign in D-1 and D-9 — this doubles its strength and longevity of effect |
| Sign / Degree | Sign name + degree within the sign | Degrees 0–1 (Gandanta) and 29–30 (Sandhi) are weak boundary positions — check for the Gandanta badge |
| House | Whole-sign house number, colour-coded | Green = Kendra (1,4,7,10) — powerful; Red = Dusthana (6,8,12) — challenging; Blue = Trikona/other |
| Nakshatra | Nakshatra name + lord + Pada | The Nakshatra lord's condition modifies how the planet expresses. A planet in the Nakshatra of its enemy behaves differently than one in a friendly Nakshatra |
| Dignity | Exalted / Moolatrikona / Own / Friendly / Neutral / Enemy / Debilitated | Combined with the Neecha Bhanga badge: if debilitation is cancelled (Neecha Bhanga), the planet is often stronger than an ordinary exalted planet |
| CK | Chara Karaka code | AK = Atmakaraka (soul planet) — the most important planet in Jaimini. AmK = Amatyakaraka (career planet). DK = Darakaraka (spouse planet) |
| KP Sub | KP Sub-Lord of the planet | The Sub-Lord determines the final "promise" of the planet's significator chain in the KP system |
| Aspected By | 2-letter abbreviations of planets casting aspects to this planet | A planet aspected by its enemy and placed in an enemy sign is doubly afflicted. Jupiter's aspect on any planet generally protects it |
| Avastha | 4 avastha systems: Baladi + Jagradadi + Sayanadi + Lajjitadi |
|
| Strength | Shadbala total + Vimshopaka Bala score | Shadbala minimum required strength: Sun 390, Moon 360, Mars 300, Mercury 420, Jupiter 390, Venus 330, Saturn 300 — below minimum = structurally weak planet regardless of sign dignity |
| D60 Deity | Shashtyamsha deity of the planet | The D60 deity reveals the karmic tone of how this planet operates across lifetimes. Deities like Kaala, Sarpa, and Mrityu are deeply inauspicious in D60 |
| Ishta Phala | Benefic potency score (Shadbala sub-component) | Higher Ishta = planet gives positive results more readily in its Dasha |
| Kashta Phala | Malefic potency score (Shadbala sub-component) | Higher Kashta = planet causes more stress and obstacles in its Dasha |
Step 7 — The 5-Level Vimshottari Dasha Tree
Directly below the planetary matrix, on the left, is the Vimshottari Dasha Tree. Most astrology websites show you 3 dasha levels. Rajvidya shows you 5 levels:
- Mahadasha — the 7 to 20-year major period (e.g., Saturn Mahadasha = 19 years)
- Antardasha — the sub-period within the Mahadasha (roughly 1–3 years)
- Pratyantar Dasha — the sub-sub-period (roughly 2–6 months)
- Sukshma Dasha — the micro-period (roughly 1–6 weeks); shown with a pulsing live indicator
- Prana Dasha — the nano-period (days or hours); shown with a live animation — this is the finest timing granularity available in standard Vimshottari
Each level shows the lord's name and the end date of that sub-period.
- Identify the event you are predicting (marriage, job change, relocation, etc.)
- Find the corresponding planetary significator (7th lord for marriage, 10th lord for career, etc.)
- Look for a Mahadasha / Antardasha combination that includes your significator lord
- Narrow down using the Pratyantar and Sukshma periods
- Confirm by checking the transit panel (Step 8) — does the transit support it in the same period?
For a complete Dasha-based analysis, click View Dasha Chronology to open the full Dasha module, which shows the entire 120-year timeline as a scrollable calendar.
Step 8 — Live Transit Alerts & Sade Sati Warning
The Transit Alerts panel (bottom centre of the page) shows the current positions of the 5 major transiting planets relative to your natal chart, updated live:
| Planet | What the alert shows | Alert colour meaning |
|---|---|---|
| ♄ Saturn | Current transit sign + Nakshatra + natal house it transits + Sade Sati phase | Red = in 12th, 1st, or 2nd from natal Moon (Sade Sati active) |
| ♃ Jupiter | Current sign + house + any natal planet conjuncted | Green = in Kendra/Trikona from Lagna or Moon |
| ♂ Mars | Current sign + whether it triggers any natal Mars or 8th house | Orange = in 8th from Lagna |
| ☊ Rahu | Current sign + any natal planet conjuncted | Yellow = neutral transit |
| ☋ Ketu | Current sign (always opposite Rahu) | Red = over natal Lagna or natal Moon |
🔴 Sade Sati Warning Banner
If Saturn is currently in the 12th, 1st, or 2nd sign from your natal Moon sign, a red Sade Sati banner appears at the top of the transit panel showing which phase (Rising / Peak / Setting) you are in and the approximate end date.
Sade Sati in brief: A 7.5-year period of Saturn's transit that brings tests, delays, and restructuring to the areas ruled by the Moon sign. It is not inherently bad — it forces accountability and builds long-term character — but the workload and mental pressure increase significantly.
Step 9 — Key Yogas & Structural Flags
The bottom-right panel of the page shows Key Flags — automatic structural analysis that runs on every chart:
✨ Top 4 Yogas
The 4 most powerful yoga combinations detected in the chart are shown with a strength badge (Strong / Medium) and a short description. A full list of all 300+ yogas detected is available in the dedicated Yogas module.
Common powerful free yogas found in charts:
- Gaja Kesari Yoga — Jupiter in Kendra from Moon. Gives wisdom, reputation, and stability.
- Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas — Mars/Mercury/Jupiter/Venus/Saturn in own or exalted sign in Kendra. Each creates a great person in the planet's domain.
- Budha-Aditya Yoga — Mercury conjunct Sun. Intelligence, technical skill, writing ability.
- Vesi / Vosi / Ubhayachari Yogas — planets in 2nd/12th from Sun. Determine speech, finances, and balance.
⚠️ Structural Weakness Alerts
Automatically flags serious structural problems:
- Lagna Lord in 6th/8th/12th — the ascendant lord placed in a Dusthana weakens the entire chart's ability to manifest positive results
- Gandanta planets — planets at the junction between water and fire signs (Pisces/Aries, Cancer/Leo, Scorpio/Sagittarius) — inherently unstable and needs remediation
- Marana Karaka Sthana (MKS) — certain houses are "death positions" for certain planets: Sun in House 12, Moon in House 8, Mars in House 7, Mercury in House 7, Jupiter in House 3, Venus in House 6, Saturn in House 1 — all suppress the planet's significations
Step 10 — Birth Time Rectification (BTR) Grade
One of the most overlooked but most important indicators on the summary page is the BTR Grade badge in the identity strip.
Recorded birth times are commonly wrong by 5–30 minutes. Even a 5-minute error shifts the Ascendant degree. A 15-minute error can move the Ascendant into the next sign entirely — changing the Lagna lord, house ownerships, and the entire Vimshottari Dasha sequence.
| BTR Grade | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| ✅ Verified | Birth time confirmed accurate via multi-layer BTR validation | Proceed with full analysis — all modules are reliable |
| ⚠️ Pending | Not yet run through BTR validation | Open the BTR module and input 3–5 life events to verify |
| ❌ Needs Correction | BTR analysis found the recorded time is likely inaccurate | Use the BTR module to find the correct time before proceeding with dasha-based predictions |
👋 For Beginners — What to Look At First
The Quick Chart Summary contains a lot of information. If you are new to Vedic astrology, here is a suggested sequence:
-
1. What is my Lagna?
Look at the top badge strip. Your Lagna sign is the most important starting point. It determines which planet "owns" your life (the Lagna lord) and how you present to the world. -
2. What is my Moon Nakshatra?
The second badge shows your Moon sign and Nakshatra. Your Nakshatra determines your Vimshottari Dasha sequence and deeply describes your emotional instincts. Search "your Nakshatra name meaning" to get a foundational understanding. -
3. What Dasha am I in?
Look at the Dasha badge and the Dasha tree below. The Mahadasha planet's house placement and lordship in your chart describes the theme of the current multi-year period of your life. -
4. Am I in Sade Sati?
Check the Transit panel for the red Sade Sati banner. If it is active, many of your current life challenges may have this as their root cause. -
5. What are my strongest Yogas?
Look at the Key Yogas panel. The yoga names tell you your innate strengths — Raja Yogas indicate leadership potential, Dhana Yogas indicate wealth potential.
🎓 For Professional Astrologers — Consultation Workflow
Here is an efficient workflow for using the Quick Chart Summary during a live client consultation:
- Step A — Verify the BTR grade first. If pending, ask the client for 2–3 confirmed life events and run the BTR module before continuing. An unverified birth time makes precise Dasha timing unreliable.
- Step B — Note the Dasha badge (3 levels). The current Mahadasha + Antardasha combination immediately indicates the life theme and active planetary significations. Cross-reference with the Lagna lord and Moon sign for context.
-
Step C — Scan the Planetary Matrix for critical flags:
- Any planet in Mrita (dead) Baladi Avastha → that planet's significations are suppressed
- Any planet in Lajjita (ashamed) Lajjitadi → that house area is structurally blocked
- Lagna lord's Shadbala score → if below minimum, the chart needs remediation before interpretation
- Step D — Check the KP Cuspal tab (right panel) for the house relevant to the client's question. The cuspal sub-lord determines event promise.
- Step E — Open the AV Heatmap toggle to identify which houses are transit-supportive right now. Cross with the current Dasha lords.
- Step F — Use the Varga Switcher to open the relevant divisional chart (D-9 for marriage questions, D-10 for career, D-6 for health). Right-click the relevant house for Bhavat Bhavam analysis.
- Step G — Click "Full Validation" in the Key Flags panel to navigate to the relevant deep-analysis module (Career, Marriage, Health, etc.) with the chart preloaded.
⚙️ Ayanamsa / House System Override
If your client uses a different ayanamsa from the default (e.g., KP New for KP consultations), click the Settings (⚙️) icon on the chart header. You can override the ayanamsa, house system, node type, and all other settings per chart — the original chart is not modified. The override is shown with a CUSTOM badge in the identity bar.
Changing Calculation Settings Per Chart
Every chart on Rajvidya has its own Live Settings that you can override independently. Click the ⚙️ Settings icon in the chart header to open the settings modal. Available options:
| Setting | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Quick Chart Summary free?
Yes, completely free. The entire Quick Chart Summary page — including all 16 divisional charts, the 13-column planetary matrix, 5-level Vimshottari Dasha, Ashtakavarga heatmap, Arudha Padas overlay, all interactive features, and the KP cuspal table — is free for every saved chart.
Why does my chart look different from JHora?
The most common cause is the default ayanamsa or node type setting. Rajvidya defaults to Lahiri True Node. JHora's default is Lahiri True Chitrapaksha with True Node. Open the ⚙️ Settings modal on the chart and switch ayanamsa to Lahiri True Chitrapaksha to match JHora output exactly for comparison.
My birth time is approximate — how accurate are the results?
The Moon sign, Nakshatra, and most planetary positions are accurate even with a 1–2 hour uncertainty. The Ascendant (Lagna) changes sign every ~2 hours, so birth time accuracy directly affects Lagna placement. The Dasha start date is calculated from the Moon's longitude at birth — a 15-minute error in birth time causes roughly 6 months of Dasha date shift. Use the Birth Time Rectification module if you suspect your recorded birth time is uncertain.
What is the difference between the Rasi chart and Bhava Chalit?
In the default Whole Sign house system, the Rasi chart and Bhava Chalit are usually identical. In the Bhava Chalit (cusp-based chart), each house cusp is calculated based on the exact Ascendant degree — a planet within 5° of a house boundary may physically belong to a different house than its zodiac sign suggests. This difference becomes significant for planets near house cusps and is particularly used in KP system analysis.
Can I share my chart with someone else?
Charts are private by default and tied to your account. You can share a chart by copying the URL and sharing it with another registered user on Rajvidya, or by generating a PDF report from the Reports module.
What is Vargottama and why is it important?
Vargottama (VO) means a planet occupies the same sign in both D-1 (Rasi) and D-9 (Navamsha). In simple terms, the planet is "doubly placed" in its sign — its strength, themes, and results are more consistent and longer-lasting across life phases. A VO planet in exaltation/own sign is considered one of the strongest placements possible in classical Vedic analysis.
How do I navigate to deeper analysis from here?
Use the Quick Navigation Strip at the bottom of the page — it has direct links to Divisional Charts, Planetary Positions, Panchang, Yogas, Ashtakavarga, and all other modules. Alternatively, use the sidebar to navigate to any group and module directly.
