Naabhasa Yogas

Auspicious configuration for happiness and fortune.

Share

Sringataka Yoga (शृंगाटक योग) is an auspicious Akriti Nabhasa Yoga that signifies a life blessed with happiness, wealth, and general fortune. As a shape-based (Akriti) configuration, it patterns the planetary forces into a triadic structure, channeling the energies of the trinal houses to support the native's prosperity, social standing, and personal joy.

How It Forms

Sringataka Yoga is formed when all seven physical planets (the Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn) occupy the trinal houses: the Lagna (1st house), the 5th house, and the 9th house. This trine-based distribution ensures that the entire chart's planetary power is concentrated in the houses of dharma, intelligence, and purvapunya.

In evaluating this configuration, the Krishnamurti Paddhati (KP) tradition broadly agrees that the practitioner must prioritize the exact position of the Lagna and its cusps over the Moon sign. According to both K.P reader 3 Predictive stellar astro and Predictive Stellar Astrology, when analyzing a horoscope, performing predictions, or predicting house results, one must always use the Lagna instead of the Moon sign, regardless of whether the Lagna is afflicted.

Classical Effects

The classical texts describe Sringataka Yoga as a highly benefic pattern that bestows a noble, courageous, and comfortable life. The primary effects of this configuration manifest across several areas of life, including wealth, relationships, and character.

Status, Wealth, and Disposition

A native born with Sringataka Yoga is described as a warrior, possessing courage and a bold disposition. They are happy, rich, and dear to the king or ruling authorities, indicating high social status, political favor, and administrative influence. However, classical texts also record a specific negative behavioral trait associated with this configuration: the native is said to harbor a dislike or hatred for the fair sex.

Progeny and Lineage

Because all seven planets are restricted to the 1st, 5th, and 9th houses, the lords of these houses are naturally prevented from falling into the duststhanas or Trik houses (the 6th, 8th, and 12th houses). This planetary arrangement has significant implications for progeny. Jatak Alankaar holds that if the lord of the 5th house from Jupiter, or the lords of the Lagna, 5th, and 9th houses, occupy Trik houses, the native will lack progeny. In Sringataka Yoga, this negative condition is structurally impossible, thereby safeguarding the native's lineage. Additionally, Jataka Parijata notes that the 5th and 9th houses counted from Jupiter, the Moon, or the Lagna are inherently child-producing, and having all planets situated in these trinal positions strongly reinforces the promise of children.

Intellect and the Quest for Knowledge

With the planets concentrated in the houses of education and wisdom, the native's intellectual pursuits are highly pronounced. According to the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, if the lord of the 1st house is situated in or aspects the 5th house (which is a common occurrence in this yoga), the native will yearn for knowledge and remain in a constant quest for learning. Conversely, the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra also notes that if the lord of the 5th house is in or aspects the 1st house, it triggers the reverse of the Dheemantah Yoga, further shaping the native's cognitive and intellectual orientation.

Strength and Timing

Sringataka Yoga is a Nabhasa Yoga, and as such, its core effects are considered to be active throughout the native's entire life. The traditional texts state that the yoga is always strong and does not depend on specific planetary periods to exist, though the individual dashas of the participating planets will highlight and deliver its specific promises.

Because the yoga is defined by the placement of all seven planets in the trines, any dasha of a planet involved in the yoga will naturally activate the 1st, 5th, or 9th house. According to Jataka Parijata, a dasha is considered auspicious and favorable if the dasha lord is the owner of the Lagna varga (such as the Lagna Rasi, Hora, Drekkana, Navamsha, Dwadashamsha, or Trimshamsha), or if the dasha lord occupies a friendly house, its exaltation sign, its own sign (Swakshetra), or an Upachaya house from the Lagna.

Cancellation and Caveats

There are no standard cancellations or intensifications defined for Sringataka Yoga; its structural shape remains intact once the planetary conditions are met. However, specific classical and Nadi texts introduce caveats based on planetary conjunctions and aspects within these trinal houses.

One Nadi tradition, recorded in Roots of Naadi Astrology, warns that if Saturn, the Sun, or Mars occupies the Lagna, 5th, or 9th house and simultaneously aspects Rahu situated in the Lagna, the astrologer must deduct a calculated portion of the planet's longevity contribution based on the remaining Navamsa padas.

Furthermore, in the realm of query or horary astrology, Prashna Tantra holds that if a planet occupying its own Navamsa aspects its own Navamsa in the Lagna, 5th, or 9th house, the query specifically refers to "Dhatu" (inanimate objects or mineral matters).
