Matching without a birth time

Guna Milan is built almost entirely from the Moon's position — its sign and its nakshatra — and the Moon holds the same nakshatra for roughly a day. That means every one of the eight Ashtakuta koots can honestly be worked out from a birth date and place alone, for most people, without asking for a time most visitors do not have on hand.

Where the honest limit is

A birth close to the hour the Moon changes nakshatra can fall either side of the boundary this tool assumes, and a small share of results will be affected. What a birth time adds beyond Ashtakuta itself — Mangal Dosha and the seventh house — is not part of this score and is not claimed here.

Reading the score

The total shown is the genuine thirty-six-point Ashtakuta score, not a smaller stand-in — every koot in the system is Moon-based and none of them needs a birth time. It is not, however, the whole of what a full kundli matching checks; Mangal Dosha and the seventh house sit outside Ashtakuta and are not part of this number.

Common questions

Do I need my exact birth time for this?

No — that is the point of this tool. Enter the date and place for each person and it computes the same eight Ashtakuta koots a full matching does, using the Moon's position at local noon as a representative point for the day.

Is this less accurate than matching with a birth time?

For most births, no — the Moon holds the same nakshatra and sign for close to a day, so the koots come out the same regardless of the hour. The exception is a birth close to the hour the Moon changes nakshatra, where the true result could fall either side of what is shown here.

Is the score out of 36?

Yes — every Ashtakuta koot is Moon-based, so all eight are included and the total is the genuine thirty-six-point score. It does not include Mangal Dosha or the seventh house, which a full kundli matching also checks and which are outside Ashtakuta itself.
