What manglik means
A chart is called manglik, or mangal dosha, when Mars occupies the first, second, fourth, seventh, eighth or twelfth house. These are the houses governing the body, family, home, marriage, longevity and loss, and Mars — hot, impatient and forceful — is held to disturb them.
Cancellation
The dosha cancels far more often than popular belief suggests. Mars in its own sign or in exaltation, a strong aspect from Jupiter, Mars in a sign where the affliction does not apply, or both partners carrying the same dosha are all recognised cancellations. A chart reported as manglik without checking these is being read carelessly.
How to use this result
Treat it as one factor among several. A manglik chart is not a reason to refuse a match on its own, and the classical texts weigh the strength of Mars, the condition of the seventh house and its lord, and the overall compatibility before drawing any conclusion.
Common questions
Can a manglik marry a non-manglik?
Yes, and it is common. The classical texts list several cancellations, and the condition of Mars and of the seventh house matters more than the label.
Does mangal dosha cancel with age?
That belief is widespread but not classical. Cancellation is judged from the chart — the placement and strength of Mars, aspects to it, and the sign it occupies — rather than from the age of the person.
