White Spots on Nails and Teeth

White Spots on Nails and Teeth
Description

In Ayurveda, the appearance of white spots on nails and teeth can indicate an imbalance in the digestive system, often linked to the presence of intestinal worms (Krimi). These worms interfere with the body’s ability to absorb nutrients, causing deficiencies in minerals such as calcium and zinc, which in turn lead to weak teeth and spots on nails. The buildup of toxins (Ama) from poor digestion further aggravates the condition, disrupting tissue health and nourishment (Asthi Dhatu and Rasa Dhatu).

Causes

  • Intestinal Worm Infestation (Krimi):
    • Worms in the gastrointestinal tract impair nutrient absorption, leading to deficiencies.
    • Children are particularly prone to worm infections, which manifest as white spots on nails and teeth.
  • Calcium and Zinc Deficiency:
    • The parasites rob essential nutrients from the host body, affecting bone health and enamel.
  • Rasa Dhatu and Asthi Dhatu Imbalance:
    • Weakness in tissue nourishment reflects as brittle enamel and white nail spots.
  • Ama (Toxins) Accumulation:
    • Poor digestion and the presence of worms increase Ama, further disrupting mineral absorption.
  • Vata Aggravation:
    • Worm infestations disturb the Vata dosha, causing tissue dryness and fragility in nails and teeth.
