Excessive Thirst (Trushna)

Description
Excessive thirst, termed Trushna in Ayurveda, is characterized by an abnormal desire to drink more water than usual. It often indicates a disruption in the body’s fluid balance and can be symptomatic of underlying doshic imbalances, particularly an increase in Pitta or Vata dosha.
Causes
- Pitta Imbalance: Conditions like hyperacidity or heat in the body can cause an increase in thirst.
- Vata Imbalance: Dehydration or dryness can lead to an unquenchable thirst.
- Diabetes Mellitus: Elevated blood sugar levels result in excessive urination and subsequent thirst.
- Kidney Dysfunction: Impaired kidney function may lead to fluid regulation issues.
- Inadequate Fluid Intake: Insufficient hydration can lead to feelings of excessive thirst.
