Brittle Teeth (Danta Bhangurta)
Description
Brittle teeth refer to teeth that are weak, fragile, and prone to chipping or cracking. In Ayurveda, teeth health is governed by the quality of Asthi Dhatu (bone tissue), and brittle teeth are a sign of its depletion. A Vata imbalance, especially in the bones, leads to dryness and weakness, while nutritional deficiencies and improper digestion further contribute to the condition. Healthy teeth reflect proper nourishment of bone tissues and mineral absorption.
Causes
- Vata Dosha Imbalance:
- Excessive dryness and depletion of body tissues cause fragility in teeth.
- Asthi Dhatu Deficiency:
- Weak bones and mineral loss impair teeth strength.
- Calcium and Vitamin Deficiencies:
- Lack of essential nutrients such as calcium and magnesium.
- Poor Digestion (Agni Imbalance):
- Incomplete digestion leads to reduced nutrient absorption, affecting bone health.
- Excessive Consumption of Sour or Cold Foods:
- Aggravates Vata and deteriorates tooth health.
- Aging:
- With age, Vata naturally increases, leading to weaker bones and teeth.
