शीघ्रं नासा-शिरोरोगान् विहन्ति वातकफापहम्॥"
Translation: "Dhoompan with potent, medicated, and oily herbs quickly clears nasal and head disorders, balancing Vata and Kapha."
- Type of Herbs: Use medicated herbs such as vacha (Acorus calamus), haridra (turmeric), and aguru (Aquilaria agallocha) that have purifying, warming, and stimulating properties.
- When to Perform Dhoompan: It is recommended in the early morning, after meals, and especially in colder seasons or environments where Vata and Kapha imbalances are prevalent.
- Method:
- Place the dried herbs in a dhoomapana device or herbal cigar and gently inhale the smoke through the nose or mouth.
- Inhale only three puffs to avoid excess smoke intake, then exhale completely through the mouth.
- Caution: Avoid Dhoompan if there are acute respiratory infections, pregnancy, or in cases of Pitta imbalances as it may cause irritation.
