  1. East (Purva Pravāt)

    • Effect: Airflow from the east is considered auspicious and energizing, bringing warmth and positivity.
    • Dosha Influence: It gently stimulates Pitta without aggravating it and provides a balanced, calming effect for Vata.
    • Benefits: Ideal for mental clarity and vitality upon waking. It promotes alertness and aids in easing the transition from sleep to wakefulness.
  2. North (Uttara Pravāt)

    • Effect: Northern air is cooling and stabilizing, often associated with peace and tranquility.
    • Dosha Influence: It helps balance Pitta due to its cooling nature, and it pacifies Kapha, preventing sluggishness.
    • Benefits: A morning breeze from the north can help calm the mind, reduce morning heat, and prepare the body for activity, making it especially helpful during warmer months.
  3. South (Dakshina Pravāt)

    • Effect: Southern air is grounding and calming, making it ideal for stabilizing Vata.
    • Dosha Influence: This direction is calming for Vata and reduces dryness, while also preventing Kapha buildup by providing a subtle warmth.
    • Benefits: A gentle southern breeze in the morning provides grounding and promotes a stable, energetic start to the day, ideal for Vata-dominant individuals.
  4. West (Paschima Pravāt)

    • Effect: Western air tends to be heavier and may carry moisture, contributing to feelings of sluggishness if encountered immediately upon waking.
    • Dosha Influence: It can increase Kapha, potentially causing feelings of heaviness and lethargy, and may mildly aggravate Vata if too damp.
    • Benefits: Limit exposure to western air immediately after waking, as it may promote congestion. Exposure to this air later in the day may help balance Pitta due to its cooling qualities.

Fan Air (Artificial Breeze)

  • Effect: Fan air is artificial and can sometimes be too cool or drying, especially when directed continuously at the body.
  • Dosha Influence: Excessive fan air can increase Vata due to its cool, drying nature, potentially leading to dryness and stiffness. It may also increase Kapha if too much cold air hits the body, creating congestion.
  • Benefits:
    • Gentle Fan Use: Use fans at a low setting, avoiding direct airflow at the body to prevent Vata imbalance.
    • Timing: Use fan air sparingly, especially in colder months or if prone to Vata issues (dry skin, stiffness, or anxiety).
    • Alternate with Natural Air: When possible, switch between fan air and natural airflow, favoring natural breezes from beneficial directions (east, north, or south) for balanced energy and comfort.
